Glenbrook cottage Glenbrook cottage was built in 1903, it is an original miners cottage, when mining pig iron was prevalent in the area. The tram line that carried the pig iron from the mines to the wharf in Penguin ran partly through the property and parts of the tram line have been unearthed. Glenbrook house Glenbrook house is a Victorian house. Your hosts Charles and Irene reside there, of which Charles is currently restoring the 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom house to its former glory. The property We are situated on 50 acres in a very secluded and private property in the beautiful Penguin valley. Most of the native forest consists of Blackwood, Wattle, large towering white gums, ancient tree ferns and many other trees and shrubs. We also have approximately 300 hazelnut trees on the property that we are trying to bring back into production. We are surrounded mainly by farm land and forest. Some parts of the property has the Penguin creek meandering through it, with the creek running all year round, black fish, small trout and lobster have been sighted.
Wild life and bird life There are a large number of animals that have been sighted on the property including : Wallabies Tasmanian devils Ring tail possums Brush tail possums Poteroos Bandicoots Echidnas Platypus
We are a designated land for wild life and value the importance of preservation of wildlife habitat and proud to have the endangered species of the burrowing crayfish residing on the property. We ask that guests be respectful towards wildlife while walking through the forest and property. There are a large number of birds that reside on the property and visit us, It is truly a bird watchers paradise. Some of these include: The yellow wattle birds Splendid blue wrens Black birds Laughing Kookaburras Black yellow tailed cockatoos White goshawks Wedge tail eagles Parrots New Holland honey eaters Scarlet robins Golden whistlers Beautiful fire tail Scaly thrush Dusky robins Masked plovers Little wattle bird Black headed honey eaters Grey fan tails Yellow throated honey eaters Fan tailed cockatoos Eastern spinebill Pardoes Sparrows White cockatoos
